December 27.2011

I accidentally sent the good camera back with Scott before I took off the family pictures!  I am probably going home tomorrow, so I will try to post those soon.  Here are a few from last week and also today.  We have a storm going through and the ocean is awesome!  It is raining now and I’m watching the ocean from the comfort of the dining room.  I sat out on the balcony for hours this morning.  I am starting to think of projects at home that I want to do, so I am thinking I am getting rested up.  It took me till yesterday to start thinking about the projects.  I really needed a vacation!  Enjoy the pictures!

December 23.2011 - Elaine McNeill - Picasa Web Albums

Rachel rented a beach house in Topsail Beach, NC.  I am thoroughly enjoying being at the beach.  I’ve been getting up early and sitting out on the porch.  I use my very cold winter walking outfit and sit out with my coffee.  There a few pictures of oddball things in with the beach stuff.  I hope to get a good family picture as the kids are all descending on the place for Christmas Eve, so be watching for more pictures to appear.

July trip to Murrells Inlet

Scott and I had a good trip to Murrells Inlet, SC in July. We are hoping to get there again in October sometime (maybe two times if we are lucky). I figured I’d better get the pictures posted from last time before we go again.

Hope you enjoy them!

Murrells Inlet, SC 7.16.2011

Scott and I got a wild idea to go to the beach for the weekend. Scott said Friday morning “Let’s go to the beach tonight!” I said “O that sounds good!” This summer has been so hectic with Scott’s work and also the church stuff that he is doing that we figured we’d better just go. It was so refreshing to be alone together. Unfortunately, we only had Saturday and Sunday. We are now back to the crazy life we lead.

I got a teleconverter for our camera. It doubles the distance of your original lens. I wasn’t sure if I liked it trying it at home. It works real well for trips when you want to get a close up, but don’t want to be right next to your subject (example: alligator out in the water!) I also got a lot of cool pictures of pelicans. You know how I love the pelican!

I haven’t posted our 4th of July pictures yet, but I’ll do that soon.

My porch is almost done. Scott only has a couple of items left to do and then he can call the inspector. Those few items were some of things we should have been doing this weekend instead of enjoying ourselves. The saying is, I think that can wait!

I took over 400 pictures so here is just a sampling of them. I was obsessed with the ocean and took about 150 of that. I also got a lot of the sea grass. Good thing that I wasn’t using film like the old days! Sorry about all the captions. When I like a picture, I put a caption under it so that I know to upload it to the website. If you know what the birds are, you can e-mail me and then I will get the right captions on them.

covered deck

Hey everyone,

The deck is mostly done now. It just needs a few outside things done and the last inspection. It is so enjoyable to sit out here now. I only get mosquito bites when I go outside to fill my bird feeders or collect dog treasures. I have a fan in here, which I don’t think I got a picture of. I will try to get one posted for you sometime. It is just a regular (indoor-outdoor) fan so I wasn’t that impressed to take a picture of it.

Scott and I are heading to PA tomorrow, so I wanted to get this new post out before I get some new pictures to post. I got a teleconverter for our camera, which doubles the distance of your lens. I have tried it out, but I haven’t gotten to go anywhere with it. Looking forward to trying it out on a trip.

Joel got a job where Elisha and Jonathan work, he starts next Tuesday. He is so glad to have a full time job. I am glad for him as well. Julia is almost done with her training period. She has had a lot to learn, but is enjoying it.

Bear and Chloe are still adjusting to the deck being covered. Bear wants to be with me at all times so he can be a nuisance with wanting in and then right back out again. Chloe is fine either way. She has been crawling under the deck and getting filthy, so I’ll be glad when the lattice is back up that keeps her out.

The cats are all well. Logan is missing Julia a lot. Liam and Duncan will be lonely too next week when Joel starts working full time.

Father's Day 2001

Father’s Day

It was a busy day today.  Scott and I were up early and then headed to church.  After church, there was a picnic which Scott grabbed a hotdog and then we left.  After my nap, I sat on my deck for a while.  Rachel invited us over to have pizza for Father’s Day.  After a good supper, we went out front of Rachel’s house and took some family pictures.  I thought you would enjoy them so here they are.

Julia's graduation

Hey everyone,

I decided I needed to get back to writing. My blog is one outlet for that. I kind of have a captive audience of family who will always like what I write! I have missed several events in the last six months, so I will try to update on those as I get inspired.

The first event I’m covering is Julia’s graduation from NC State University. I am very proud of her for all the work she put into accomplishing this goal. She worked at Old Navy and the JC Penney’s for most of the time she was going through school. Her last semester she ended up quitting Penney’s, but it was a good thing she did. I’m positive she couldn’t have worked and gone to school that last semester. She is currently seeing Derek, so I enclosed a picture of her and Derek. Jesse has remained good friends with her so he came to her graduation. We had the camera out taking pictures and I took one of him since I thought you all might be interested in knowing how he looks these days. I’ve come to love Jesse, he is a real character and fits in well with our family. I worry about him like he were my own. I don’t know Derek as well, but he is real sweet too.

There were over 5,000 people graduating at the same time as Julia. The graduation was at the RBC stadium here in Raleigh. It was a real zoo in the parking lot and in the stadium. Scott took the pictures for us.

After the graduation, everyone came to our house and we had a barbecue. Laughing would be the best word to describe the day. We were all happy and celebrating Julia’s accomplishment. Two weeks later, she was hired by State Employees Credit Union and she is presently in her training period. She really likes it so far.

I haven’t posted in so long, that I wasn’t sure how Picasa was working. Hopefully, the link at the bottom of this post will work.

Enjoy!
